もともとこの場所には鎌倉時代に浄因寺があり、浄因寺の末寺として下檜沢に満福寺があった。その後江戸時代に浄因寺を破却し満福寺を移したとある。
現在の本堂は昭和６３年から計画し、平成６年３月に落慶した。
